TODAY IN HISTORY

On this day in 1990, the Hubble Space Telescope was deployed more than 300 miles above Earth's surface. In honor of the telescope's 32nd anniversary in 2022, NASA released a snapshot of five galaxies called the Hickson Compact Group 40 (HCG). In one billion years, these galaxies are due to collide and form one enormous combined galaxy.
